Defining Truly Green Electronics

03/07/2025

As e-waste continues to rise, understanding what makes electronics genuinely sustainable is critical. In a new open-access paper, Cristina González Buch, Fruela Pérez Sánchez, and experts from 11 other EU projects address this challenge.

The study offers a lifecycle-based definition of green electronics and shares best practices spanning materials, design, manufacturing, and end-of-life strategies. By providing clear guidance and examples, the paper aims to support industry, policymakers, and researchers in creating electronics that are both innovative and environmentally responsible.
